Today, 21st June 2024, Assunta Hospital had the esteemed honour of hosting Tuan Haji Mohamad Zahri bin Samingon, the Mayor of Petaling Jaya and his delegation in celebration of Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ)’s 18th anniversary as a city council.
Mr. Wilson Choo, (Chief Executive Officer of Assunta Hospital), Ms Kong (Chief Operation Officer), Dr Lourdes (Chief Medical Services Officer), along with the other Senior Management Team (SMT), warmly welcomed the Mayor and his delegates throughout the event.
The Mayor began his visit in Lavender Ward, presenting gifts to newborns born on 20th June 2024.
The tour continued in the Sang Kancil Ward, where the Mayor visited our young patients.
Our journey continued through the heritage hallway, where we shared Assunta Hospital’s rich history since 1954. Assunta has been serving the community for 70 years.
Fun fact: MBPJ, originally known as the Petaling Jaya Authority, and Assunta Hospital were both founded at the end of 1954, with the hospital beginning as a small clinic.
We also showcased our Assunta Integrated Social Services (ASSISS) wall, highlighting our mission to provide free healthcare to the needy. As a not-for-profit hospital, Assunta channels 50% of its profits into ASSISS, embodying our commitment to social entrepreneurship.
The Mayor was then introduced to our cutting-edge 640-slice CT Scan machine.
The visit concluded at Tun Tan Cheng Lock College of Nursing, Assunta Hospital with a delightful lunch, a certificate of gratitude presentation, and a photography session.
